After a fun and enjoyable trip to Korea, I touched down in Singapore at 3.30am. From the airport, I have to rush to the bus terminal to catch a coach at 5.30am where my crew and I are headed to Malaysia for the Keep It Street Panna competition. The last trip to Malaysia for the competition, I was fortunate and grateful to be able to win the competition. This time around, the competition was much harder and there are other countries taking part in the competition too. Since the level is pretty high and I was not able to train much prior to the comp as I was in korea, I participated in the comp with an open heart. It would be nice if I could retain the tittle for the second year but even if I could not, I will still be happy as long as I play well and apply the knowledge I learned from my last competition.
The ride to Kuala Lumpur however did not go as planned. The coach went at a very slow pace and the journey was much longer than we expected. In the end we were late for the competition and we were feeling quite anxious and disappointed on the way there as we might not make it for the event in time. Fortunately, the organizers allowed us to take part in the competition despite the fact that we arrived really late at the venue. Huge thank for the organizers for accommodating to us and prevent the trip from being a wasted one.
As expected the competition level was high, with many new faces and many experience players. The goal post for the panna arena was really small compared to the ones I train with back in Singapore. However, I did expect a smaller goal post, I watched many panna videos from Malaysia and I realize the size of goal that they use in Malaysia is often much small compared to Singapore. Thus I did had some training sessions where I practice and try to get use to a smaller goal post. After facing many good players, I was fortunate enough to be able to make it to the final after a the hard fought battles. None of the match were easy, I was really nervous as always and my legs were shaking so much too, but I did my best and was fortunate to make it to the finals. Huge respect to the other competitors who have improved so much and played so well too. The finals was incredibly nerve racking and I was really hoping that I can win the competition and make it 3 tittles in a row. the pressure was intense and it sure did not help me cope with the situation. Fortunately I was able to get a panna in the finals and win my 3rd competition in a row.
Thinking back...all this accomplishments and goals that I have achieve still all seem unreal. It's never easy to win a competition, let alone to be fortunate enough to win 3 in a row. It really felt like all my hard work paid off and all the time and effort put in to training was all worth it.
After the comp, My crew and I went to have some Korean BBQ where I treat them to the buffet with the prize money HAHAHA! After a long day since arriving at the airport from Korea, to a hectic bus ride to Malaysia and a hard fought competition... IT WAS THE BEST MEAL OF THE DAY! After the meal we went on to the bus terminal where we took a 6 hours coach back to Singapore~! Time to get some rest and get really for the next adventure~ Panna House Invitationals in Denmark!!!
