Nerve Wracking Freestyle Performance

One of the benefits of joining a football freestyle crew was being able to have the opportunity to perform Football Freestyle in front of a crowd or an audience. The EOS Cannon Seminar was the platform for my first test in performing football freestyle. At this period of my journey doing football freestyle, I have been practicing very hard for this performance as I am still new and just started to learn the fundamental of freestyle and I did not want to make any mistakes during the live performance.

My crew and I meet up pretty often during this period as we come up with a set of moves and slowly develop a full choreography which is about 4-5 mins long. The process was an eyeopener as I witness and learn how a performance choreography is put together. There were many component to this 5 mins of tricks and it was not as easy as I thought. Different element like synchronize tricks, following to the beat of the music, showing stage presence and remembering your position during the performance were some foreign concepts for a guy like me who only did Panna and always thought of myself as just athlete and not a performer.

During the day of the performance, it was definitely nerve wracking but it was also an experience I was looking forward to. Surprisingly I did well to cope with the pressure and manage to execute all the tricks without any mistakes. This was actually quite surprising for me as I have always find it difficult to cope with the pressure even during competitions and my legs would shake, affecting my performance in competitions. Overall, I had tons of fun with the crew and learn a lot of new things in the process as I look forward to the next performance.
