Hospitalized After Severe Chest pain

Today I will be writing about something personal and away from football freestyle. If you know me personally, you probably know that I do not share much about my personal matters nor do I like to talk about my worries and problems to even the people whom I am close to. So I believe not many people knows what happened when and why I was hospitalized.

During this time, I am doing shift work which mean I have to work morning shift, night shift followed by two days off. When I was doing shift work, I continue to train hard and sacrifice sleep to train. I often skip meals on my off days to train first and only have my dinner at 11pm. Just a little fact about the night shift, I end work after the night shift at about 10am in the morning and by the time I reached home and sleep it was usually 11.30am-12pm. So I actually have a habit of just sleeping 3-4 hours and then waking up to train, or if there is football events or such I would not sleep at all and head to the event. So having such bad habits is of course not good for the body and I will of course advice no one to do such things but as I mentioned before in my past post, I really weigh training time with high importance. To me sleeping and eating can always wait.

So... I can't exactly remember when my chest pain started but it has been like this for quite a while since I started shift work, and of course just like every other stuff, I did not tell anyone at all. It was only when the pain got worst and I felt that it may affect my work then did I tell my close colleagues. I am actually doing front line policing at this time so there are times where we face very real danger and handle aggressive subjects. It wasn't until one day where the pain got so bad that I could not move AT ALL and could barely breath. It is hard to explain how the pain is like, but when it happens, I would feel pain when I move (so I pretty much can't move at all) and I cannot breath in too much air if not it will an EXTREMELY bad pain. During such attacks, I will only be able to breath a tiny little bit and if I try to breath harder it will become even more painful and breathing will become even harder. The final time the attack happened, It was so bad that I had to lie down for more than an hour (can't move AT ALL) and I seriously could not breath, so much so that I thought I might faint due to lack of oxygen. The worst thing was that no one was with me at that time so I could not get anyone to help. Luckily the pain started to stop and I told my supervisors so that I can stand down from duty.

I actually did not want to go to the hospital still but after telling my parent and having a close colleague of mine kept nagging at me, I finally went to see the doctor and got it checked. I was then hospitalized for close to a week and the pain was still there during my stay. I can't really remember the diagnosis but I can remember the doctor said it was cause by overexertion and vigorous exercise. I was actually VERY sad during this time because my crew was organizing a panna competition that was set to happen just a week later. Other than that, the stay at the hospital was actually really pleasant, the doctor/nurse/staff was all really nice there and most importantly the food was INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS! HAHAHA. Not kidding, the food is so good that you can compare it to the food at restaurants.

After a few days of stay, I wanted to get discharge as there was still work that needs to be done for the event and I still wanted to go down for it (Have yet to decided to take part in the comp or just support my crew). During this time as I try to get myself mentally prepared, the people around me kept on nagging me everyday not to take part in the panna competition. Well I don't blame them, I would have done the same if I was in their position. However, the Singapore panna Champion tittle is really important to me, it was my goal from the very start and my motivation to work hard for the past year, there was no way I was gonna miss out on the chance. Eventually I took part in the competition, I was discharged on Friday night and went for the competition on Saturday morning. It was a decision I never once regretted as I manage to win the competition and finally accomplish the goal I set for myself 2 years ago when I first started panna.

I will share more about what happened during the Singapore Panna Championship in my next post. Just wanna end the post by saying...,I know there are some of you guys who are inspired by my story and wants to accomplish what I have, but this is one example you should never try and follow. It is important to train hard and push your limits but it is even more important to know your limit and train smart.
